The APMC Police have registered a case of rape against a man who allegedly established a physical relationship with a woman under the false pretense of marriage. Instead of fulfilling the promise, the accused reportedly uploaded intimate photos of their relationship on social media platforms.
According to the police, the accused, identified only as Raju, committed the offense between August 1, 2023, and March 12, 2025. “He exploited their friendly relationship and, under the guise of marriage, engaged in physical relations with the complainant without her consent,” said an official from APMC Police Station. The incidents reportedly took place at Kalash Lodging, located in the APMC area of Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
Approximately three months ago, the accused allegedly posted private photos on his social media account as well as on the account of the complainant’s sister-in-law. About a month ago, similar photos were also posted on the social media accounts of the complainant’s sister-in-law, younger brother-in-law (lahan devar), and a woman named Ayesha, who is reportedly his wife.
The complainant initially approached the Chembur Police Station to file an FIR, which was later transferred to the APMC Police for further investigation. A case has now been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The investigation is currently underway.
