Navi Mumbai Man Booked For Posting Derogatory WhatsApp Status Against PM Modi

A 33-year-old resident of Taloja, Navi Mumbai, has been booked by the police for sharing a derogatory post about Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his WhatsApp status, an official reported on Thursday.

The man, who later deleted the post, faces charges under sections 299 and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which relate to actions intended to insult religious beliefs and cause religious offense. He is also charged under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.

The FIR was lodged based on a police officer's complaint at the CBD Belapur police station, and an investigation is currently underway.
