The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has demolished multiple under-construction ground-plus-four (G+4) buildings in Nerul after the owners failed to comply with notices issued by the Encroachment Department. The demolition drive was conducted under the directives of Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, with the guidance of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Mr. Bhagwat Doiphode.

An inspection by the NMMC revealed unauthorized G+4 RCC structures at multiple locations, including properties owned by Jitendra Vasant Kapse, Manish B. Gupta, Satish B. Gupta, and Mahesh Vasant Vaigwar. The Nerul division office had earlier issued notices under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, on February 17 and March 3, 2025. However, despite the expiration of the notice period, the illegal constructions were not voluntarily removed.

In response, NMMC launched a demolition drive in the Nerul division to clear the unauthorized structures. The operation was overseen by Assistant Commissioner and Division Officer Sagar More, along with Junior Engineer Sanjay Sontakke and encroachment department staff. The NMMC has reaffirmed its commitment to taking strict action against illegal construction and warned that similar drives will continue in the future.
