NMMC Allocates Rs 270 Crore Grant to Strengthen Public Transport

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) has presented its Rs 534 crore budget for the upcoming financial year. Transport Manager Yogesh Kaduskar announced that 100 new buses, including 50 CNG and 50 electric buses under the NCAP initiative, will be added to the fleet.

The municipal transport service, which began in 1996 with just 25 buses, now operates 553 buses across 73 routes, serving areas such as Mumbai, Thane, Panvel, and Khalapur. Currently, 493 buses are in active service.

Revenue Boost from Vashi Bus Terminal

NMMT expects to generate Rs 32 crore in revenue from the newly developed bus terminal in Vashi. Additionally, earnings from passenger fares are estimated at Rs 25.66 crore from municipal buses and Rs 99 crore from GCC-based buses.

Rs 270 Crore Grant from NMMC

To strengthen public transport services, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has allocated a Rs 270 crore grant for the transport undertaking.

With an increased focus on revenue generation and passenger-friendly services, NMMT aims to enhance urban transport efficiency in the coming year.
