Navi Mumbai Water Crisis: NMMC Commissioner Urges Businesses to Conserve Water

Navi Mumbai: In a crucial move to address water conservation amid rapid redevelopment of old buildings, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde convened a special meeting with builders, architects, entrepreneurs, and traders at the municipal headquarters. He stressed the need to use treated water from advanced sewage treatment plants for construction and non-drinking purposes to preserve potable water resources, given the city's growing population due to redevelopment projects.

During the meeting, Dr. Shinde also engaged in a direct dialogue with industry representatives to understand their challenges and streamline administrative processes for businesses. He assured attendees that necessary steps would be taken to resolve pressing concerns and directed municipal departments to act promptly.

Senior officials from MIDC, APMC Market, Thane Belapur Industries Association, Small Scale Industries Association, CREDAI MCHI Navi Mumbai Builders Association, Indian Institute of Architects, Chemists and Druggists Association, Wholesalers Association, and Navi Mumbai Traders Association participated in the discussion.

To facilitate ease of doing business, Dr. Shinde announced that the municipal corporation is implementing a single-window clearance system to expedite approvals and certifications required for industrial, commercial, and construction activities.

Additionally, he urged residents to actively participate in the Swachh Bharat Mission’s citizen feedback initiative, which allows them to contribute to Navi Mumbai’s cleanliness ranking by submitting feedback online.

The business community appreciated the commissioner’s proactive approach and commitment to resolving their concerns, particularly regarding water sustainability, administrative efficiency, and business growth in the city.
