The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will conduct maintenance work on the Bhokarpada Water Treatment Plant and the Morbe Dam to Digha main water pipeline, leading to a temporary suspension of water supply on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The affected areas include Belapur, Nerul, Koparkhairane, Turbhe, Ghansoli, Airoli, and Vashi under the NMMC jurisdiction. In addition, residents of Kamothe and Kharghar under CIDCO will also experience a water cut due to ongoing maintenance. Water supply is expected to resume on Friday morning, September 27, 2024, but at a reduced pressure. NMMC advises residents in the affected areas to store water in advance and use it judiciously during this period. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has urged residents to plan ahead and avoid water wastage during the maintenance period. This planned work at the Bhokarpada Water Treatment Plant and the Morbe Dam to Digha main water pipeline is essential to ensure the long-term efficiency of the city's water supply infrastructure.
In addition to storing adequate water for daily needs, NMMC recommends reducing activities that consume large quantities of water, such as laundry and car washing, during the water cut. The civic body has also deployed additional water tankers in highly affected areas to minimize inconvenience, though availability might be limited.
Residents are also advised to check updates from local authorities for any changes to the maintenance schedule or updates on water supply restoration. NMMC has ensured that its teams are on standby to resolve any issues that may arise post-maintenance to avoid prolonged water disruptions.
