Panvel: The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an aggressive crackdown on property tax defaulters, initiating seizure actions against 12 properties in just three days since the start of March.
The ongoing drive has resulted in daily property tax collections amounting to crores of rupees. On March 3, the Kharghar recovery team took action against three properties in Goodwill Infinity Society, including its office, while Jyotsna Prime Fitness also faced attachment. Similarly, properties in Kamothe, Kalamboli, and Taloja MIDC were seized for unpaid taxes, including J.B. Marble, Narayan Rawaria, and Bharat Coach Builders Pvt. Ltd.
To accelerate recoveries, additional manpower has been deployed, and intensified actions have led to a significant rise in property tax payments. In January, PMC conducted 27 property seizures, followed by 21 in February. However, most defaulters cleared their dues, leading to the release of their properties.
PMC has introduced the 'PMC TAX APP' and a dedicated website www.panvelmc.org to enable online tax payments. Property owners can also seek assistance via the toll-free number 1800-5320-340.
Notice to Property Owners:
“A 2% penalty per month will be imposed on overdue property tax payments. Citizens are urged to clear their dues promptly to avoid further action,” said Swaroop Kharge, Deputy Commissioner, Panvel Municipal Corporation
