Central Railway Suspends Platform Tickets to Curb Summer Rush

Mumbai: In an effort to manage the growing crowd at railway stations during the summer rush, Central Railway has announced the temporary suspension of platform ticket sales at three of Mumbai’s busiest railway stations — Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), and Kalyan Junction.

The restriction will be in effect from April 18 to May 15, 2025, aimed at ensuring smoother passenger movement and reducing congestion in the station premises.

However, exceptions will be made for individuals accompanying senior citizens, sick passengers, and small children, who will still be allowed to enter the platform area to assist them.

Railway officials have appealed to the public to cooperate with the temporary measure and help maintain order during this peak travel season.
