Asian Wrestling Championships: Anshu Malik, Radhika settle for silver; Manisha claims bronze

Indian wrestler Anshu Malik settled for the silver medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2022 as she lost to Japan's Tsugumi Sakurai 0-4 in the 57kg category final in Ulaanbaatar.

Malik won gold in the 2021 edition of the Asian Championships 57kg wrestling event and was out to defend her title on Friday. In the clash, Defending champion lost the bout before she could make a mover as Sakurai took a 4-0 lead by pinning and rolling her Indian opponent out of the ring.

Meanwhile, Radhika won three of her four bouts in the 65kg category to ensure a silver medal in the tournament. The only match that she lost was against Japan's Miya Morikawa. Manisha bagged the bronze medal in the 62kg category by defeating South Korea's Hanbit Lee 4-2.

Earlier, Sarita Mor and Sushma Shokeen won bronze medals for India in their respective women's freestyle weight categories at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2022.

On Saturday, Indian men's freestyle wrestlers, including Tokyo Olympic medalists Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Bajrang Punia, will compete.
