MotoGP on Thursday released an updated calendar for its 2020 season. The season is yet to begin due to the cancellation or postponement of many races due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The season will start with back to back races at the Jerez circuit in Spain, MotoGP said in its statement.

"The MotoGP season will start at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto in Spain with the Gran Premio Red Bull de Espana on July 19th and the Gran Premio Red Bull de Andalucía on July 26th. Following a weekend off, we'll head to the Czech Republic for the Monster Energy Grand Prix Ceske republiky at Brno, before the myWorld Motorrad Grand Prix von Osterreich and the Grand Prix von Styria at the Red Bull Ring in Austria all in the space of three weeks," it said.

A minimum of 13 rounds will take place for the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships in 2020 and 12 for MotoGP.

"All dates, events and the eventual attendance of spectators are subject to the evolution of the pandemic and the approval of the corresponding governments and authorities," said MotoGP.

The Japanese MotoGP was the latest raced to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It followed the UK, Australia, Netherlands, Finland and Germany in calling off their scheduled grand prix races.
