Soham of Future Kid's clinches SFA Table Tennis gold

Soham Karwal of the Future Kids School (Puppal Guda) came up with a stellar performance to bag gold in the table tennis championship of Sports for All (SFA), powered by Byjus, at the Gachibowli Stadium here on Wednesday.

Taking on Suraj Kumar of Prerana Waldorf School in the Under-17 TT, Soham held his nerve to come back from behind and register a 2-1 (9-11, 11-2, 13-11) victory to win the big one. Bhuvan Sai Kasukurthi of Vignan Vidyalaya (Nizampet) beat Shomim Meghani of Delhi School of Excellence (Attapur) 2-0 (11-1, 11-9) to win the bronze.

In the Girls' Under-17 TT, Shrestha Reddy Kontham of Oakridge International School Newton Campus (Cyberabad) blanked Haniah Fatima of Nasr Girls School 2-0 (11-7, 11-6) to claim the title while Lehar Agarwal of Nasr Girls prevailed over Tanvi Divija Kante of Oakridge International School Newton Campus (Cyberabad) 2-0 (11-5, 11-6) to settle for the bronze.

Meanwhile, Avadhya did the star turn for Oakridge International School as they overcame a strong challenge from Nasr Girls to clinch the Under-18 Basketball championship. Avadhya was on fire from the word go and scored six crucial points to help her team outclass Nasr 11-8. She was well complemented by her teammates Trisha and Shreya who scored three and two points respectively.

Elsewhere, in the U-18 Boys' 110 mts hurdles, it was Vignan Vidyalaya which made a clean sweep, winning all the three medals on offer. Bhargav Ram won the gold after he completed his run in just 21:91 seconds, while the silver went to Narshima Sagar after he clocked a time of 22:45 seconds. Sai Rishith Laskar finished with a time of 22:46 seconds to win the bronze.

In the U-16 Girls' high jump, Akanksha Yadav of St. Andrew's High School made it to the top of the podium after clearing 1.26 mts. Akshaya Mora of Sunflower School breached 1.23 mts to pocket the silver. Charanya Gorthi of Vignan Vidyalaya managed to go past the mark of 1.15 mts to settle for the bronze.

In the Under-14 boys' hockey event, the Future's Kids School reigned supreme after they edged past Vignan Vidyalaya 3-2 on penalties to bag the gold.

Sunflower Vedic School (A) thrashed Vignan Vidyalaya (A) 2-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-20) to win the U-16 boys' throwball finals.

The Under-16 girls' throwball crown went to Jubilee Hills Public School as they got the better of Phoenix Greens International 2-0 (25-15, 25-13), while Vignan Vidyalaya beat Meridian School 2-1 (15-25, 25-15, 25-23) to claim the bronze.
