Dalit girl allegedly gang raped and strangled to death in Mathura

A Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped and strangled to death in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district. The victim's family members and villagers caught the two accused on Friday night and raised a ruckus for about one and a half hour.

The police pacified the matter by explaining to them and took the two accused into their custody. Police said that a 14-year-old girl belonging to a Dalit family living in Thana Mahavan area along with her nine-year-old sister went away from home to defecate at around 8:30 pm on Friday night.

He said that after that the girl was strangled to death. According to the police, his younger sister somehow escaped from there and reached home and informed uncle about the incident. Uncle and other family members reached the spot and the villagers gathered again and made a huge ruckus.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Trigun Bisen and Area Officer of Mahavan Alok Singh reached the spot on the information. The police officers calmed down the matter by explaining to the villagers. Deshraj and Yogendra were caught by the villagers and arrested by the police.

Police Area Officer (CO) Alok Singh said, “Prima facie this is a case of murder after gang rape of the girl. A case has been registered under relevant sections and further action is being taken.”
