India records 12,193 new COVID-19 cases and 42 deaths

Within a duration of 24 hours, India registered 12,193 fresh COVID-19 infections, resulting in a total of 67,556 active cases.

As per the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Saturday, 42 additional fatalities were reported due to the COVID-19 infection, raising the total death toll to 5,31,300.

As per the Health Ministry's website, the reported deaths include 10 additional cases after Kerala reconciled its death figures. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has now risen to 4,48,81,877.

Out of the total COVID-19 cases in India, only 0.15 per cent are currently active, with the national recovery rate standing at a high of 98.66 per cent. The number of people who have recovered from the disease has surged to 4,42,83,021, while the case fatality rate is at 1.18 per cent.

As per the ministry, the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign has administered a total of 2.2066 billion doses until now.
