Any Indian citizen can invest a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh and a minimum of Rs 500 every year in this scheme. The PPF scheme has a tenure of 15 years and offers the benefit of compound interest. Currently, the interest rate on PPF is 7.1 percent.

According to the PPF calculator, if you invest Rs 2,000 per month in PPF, your total investment in a year will be Rs 24,000. Over the 15-year period, your total investment will amount to Rs 3,60,000. With a compound interest rate of 7.1 percent, your maturity amount will be Rs 6,50,913.

By depositing Rs 3,000 per month in PPF, your annual investment will be Rs 36,000. Over 15 years, your total investment will be Rs 5,40,000. With the interest earned, your maturity amount will be Rs 9,76,370.
