On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an extension of the lockdown period. Lockdown will now be in place across the country until May 3. Previously, the period was April 14. Immediately after PM's announcement a series of meme's flooded social media.
These memes on social media are among the funny side of the otherwise hard times where the coronavirus threat has confined people to their homes following the nation-wide lockdown.
The actor's expressions that left the audience in splits have now assumed the coronavirus avatar, with memes and videos used to both spread awareness and ensure a hearty laugh on the subject of virus.
Many other creative memes on coronavirus are also being shared multiple times.
Apart from memes platforms like Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok, are also taking steps to make sure that their users stay informed, stay safe, and stay home.
The funny memes allows one to take their mind off things, and find a little relaxation in the lighter side of life.
Celebrities, influencers, and even official police accounts have been using social media to spread information mixed with humour, and getting people to think about social distancing, washing hands, and staying at home.
Thanks to social media, we now live in a world of memes. The internet mafias out there, with their incredible humour and on point sarcasm, do not fail to disappoint – even during these dark times.
Several YouTube songs about the coronavirus have also cropped up, and while some are downright hilarious, some do strike a chord.
Muskarayenga India – an upbeat song to lift the spirits of an anxious nation was also released recently.
It features celebrities like Ayushmann Khurana, Kartik Aryan, Kriti Sanon, Bhumi Pednekar, and many more. It comes with a subtle message, “Phir muskarayega India, jo saath denga India.”
Modi’s 10 am address to the nation was awaited with bated breath on social media, with memes and quips rolling in from early morning. There was speculation that the lockdown would be extended, which turned out to be right.
However, after having asked by Modi in his previous speeches to bang utensils from their balconies and light candles, many assumed that he would set yet another task for India. When this didn’t happen, some were disappointed.
Modi spent the first 12 minutes of the speech talking about the steps the government had taken to contain the pandemic, and thank Indians for abiding by the rules of the lockdown.
Some noted how Modi’s message simply did not need a 30-minute speech.
One news channel kept track of how many times Modi joined his palms.
Someone found Modi’s lengthy speech ending with an appeal to download the Aarogya Setu mobile app, which purportedly helps in providing essential health services to users.
Several Twitter users were indignant about Modi failing to make any mention of plans to rejuvenate a falling economy, help the poor, or boost India’s attempts to fight the novel coronavirus.
Now, many people were really excited and looking forward to the end of the lockdown so that they can finally go back to their daily routine. While the news of the extension might be disheartening for those people, meme brigade has something that might cheer you up for a while.
As soon the extension was announced, trollers and memers stated sharing hilarious memes on social media platforms, which are relatable
