Congress MLA Imran Khedawala has tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. The test results have come about 6 hours after he met Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and several other leaders. The MLA who represents Jamalpur-Khadia constituency in Ahmedabad, had also met Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and Minister of State for Home Pradeep Singh Jadeja among others. Later, he had also interacted with the media.

As more and more positive cases are emerging from Ahmedabad's hotspot or cluster areas in the fortified area, health authorities have intensified the surveillance and testing in these areas. The state government on Tuesday even imposed a week-long curfew in the area. Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Omprakash Machra stated that the corona virus was confirmed on Tuesday night in Congress MLA Imran Khedawala. He stated that the MLA from Khadia Jamalpur seat of Ahmedabad will quickly be admitted to the hospital prescribed for COVID-19.
