Kolkata, July 22 West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday condemned the killing of Uttar Pradesh journalist Vikram Joshi who was shot by assailants in Ghaziabad near Delhi on Monday night in front of his two daughters. Joshi died this morning at a hospital.

"My heartfelt condolences to the family of Vikram Joshi, a fearless journalist who passed away today. He was shot in UP for filing an FIR to book his niece's molesters," the West Bengal CM tweeted.

CCTV footage also showed the journalist lying on the road wounded and one of his daughters weeping and screaming for help.

Banerjee, in her tweet, said that an atmosphere of fear has been created in the country.
