As the entire country continues to grapple the COVID-19 threat, West Bengal Chief Minister believes opening doors and windows help will allow the virus to escape. The ludicrous statement was made by the CM after the doctors sought portable air conditioners. Continuing further she said, “Whenever I travel by car, I keep the windows open, I do not have many windows or doors at my home,  but, I keep them open as and when possible, the entry of sunlight or outside air into the room helps the virus escape.” She even advised the doctors to follow the same norm.

"Assuming that doctors work for 8 hours, the portable air-conditioners will work for 4-5 hours. If possible, open the doors and windows for 1 to 1.5 hours, the virus will go out of the room automatically." Mamta has been in the firing line from the opposition over handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state. West Bengal is among the top ten states in the country affected by coronavirus. The state has reported a total of 23,837 coronavirus cases of which 15,790 patients have recovered. The number of Covid-19 fatalities stands at 804.
