The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Tuesday received a three-star rating under the Garbage Free Cities category by the Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs.

In an event held here, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri announced the result of smart rating of Garbage Free Cities, the NDMC said in a statement.

"The NDMC certified as a three-star rating for the assessment year 2019- 2020," it said.

The Star Rating Protocol was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in January, 2018 to institutionalise a mechanism for cities to achieve Garbage Free status, and to motivate cities to achieve higher degrees of cleanliness.
