Bharatiya Janata Party MP Locket Chatterjee shared a video on her Twitter account targeting Trinamool Congress (TMC) and MP Kalyan Banerjee. In this video, a TMC MP is seen pulling the cheek of a woman MLA of the party in front of everyone at a press conference.

Tweeting the video, Locket Chatterjee identified the TMC MP as Kalyan Banerjee.

"TMC empowering women...? This is TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and the woman is the outgoing Bankura MLA who was miffed for not getting a ticket. Shame! (sic)," Locket Chatterjee tweeted

After posting this video on social media, BJP has attacked Trinamool Congress. In this regard, the BJP has alleged that crimes against women have soared under the Mamata Banerjee government in the last ten years. The Mamata government in the state has not even given the statistics of crime against women in the state to the NCRB.

West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in eight phases starting from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.

The state is likely to witness a triangular contest this time with TMC, Congress-Left alliance and the BJP in the fray.
