After Trinamool's good show in West Bengal elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said tackling the deadly COVID-19 pandemic was the priority of the moment. She added that the oath-taking will be a simple affair. "We are grateful to the people for this landslide victory. I have to start working for COVID-19 immediately. The swearing-in will be a low-key event because of the prevailing COVID-19 situation," Mamata Banerjee said, according to ANI. Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Sunday defeated her BJP rival Suvedu Adhikari in Nandigram by over 1,200 votes. The Trinamool Congress is all set to retain power in West Bengal as the ruling party was maintaining lead in over 200 Assembly seats.

As the counting of votes for the West Bengal election continues on Sunday, the Election Commission data showed that Trinamool Congress is all set to return to power in the state. Commenting on the possible poll outcome, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya credited Mamata Banerjee for TMC's win, saying 'it seems Bengal has chosen Didi'."The TMC won because of Mamata Banerjee. It seems people have chosen Didi. We will introspect what went wrong, whether it was organisational issues, lack of face, insider- outsider debate. We will see what went wrong," Vijayvargiya said. TMC vice president Yashwant Sinha demands the resignation of PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah following the outcome of the West Bengal assembly poll, says the result will have a far-reaching impact on the UP assembly election and the 2024 parliamentary election.
