Pune: 85-Year-Old Woman Dies by Suicide in Pavana River Due to Health Problems
An 85-year-old woman reportedly died by suicide after jumping into the Pavana River due to health issues. The fire brigade recovered her body from the water a few hours later. The incident occurred at Jadhav Ghat in Ravet on Monday, February 17.
The deceased has been identified as Indubai Bhimrao Jadhav, 85, a resident of Shivle Chawl, Walhekarwadi.
According to Senior Police Inspector Nitin Fatangare of Ravet Police Station, authorities were informed about the woman jumping into the river. Ravet police and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's fire brigade team quickly responded to the scene. The fire brigade searched the river and retrieved the woman's body within hours.
Police later confirmed the identity of the deceased as Indubai Jadhav. Officers mentioned that she had been suffering from illness, which may have led to her decision to jump into the river.
