In a chilling case that has sent shockwaves across two states, a Pune-based businessman, Laxman Sadhu Shinde, was abducted and murdered shortly after arriving in Patna, Bihar. Shinde had landed at Patna airport on April 11, responding to what appeared to be a lucrative business enquiry involving mining equipment. Within days, his body was found dumped in the Ghosi area of Bihar’s Jehanabad district. The Bihar Police have arrested seven individuals, including a woman, in connection with the gruesome murder. Four others are currently in custody for questioning as part of the widening investigation. Among those arrested are Ranjit Patel alias Munna, Vipatra Kumar, Lalbihari, Vikas alias Mohit, Kundan Kumar, Sangita Kumari, and Sachin Ranjan.

Patna SSP Awkash Kumar revealed that the businessman’s family filed a missing person’s complaint after losing contact with him post-landing. A case of kidnapping was swiftly registered. A special police team traced the vehicle used in the abduction to Vaishali and arrested its owner, Vipatra Kumar, who eventually led police to the rest of the gang. The accused allegedly belonged to an inter-state criminal syndicate involved in extortion, cyber fraud, and murder across several states including Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Karnataka. According to police, the gang demanded a ransom from Shinde’s family and managed to extort Rs 90,000. However, dissatisfied with the partial payment, they murdered him and disposed of his body.
Pune Police sources indicate that the victim was lured under the pretense of a business deal worth crores, facilitated through a deceptive email communication. Police believe the trap was set meticulously, capitalizing on Shinde’s profession and trust.
