A woman managed to steal rs 4.5 lakh from a shop in Warje Malwadi while pretending to shop, leaving the shopkeeper in shock. The theft occurred at Ashtavinayak Chowk, and the crime has been reported to the Warje police.
The victim, a 40-year-old shopkeeper from Sahyognagar, Warje, runs a store selling vegetables, spices, and bangles. She had kept ₹2 lakh in cash along with jewelry in a bag at the shop, as she was saving the money for her son’s upcoming wedding. Since she spent most of her time at the shop, she had stored the valuables there for safekeeping.
The incident took place around 5:30 PM when the shop was busy, and her son had gone to the market to buy spices. A woman entered the shop, pretending to purchase bangles. Taking advantage of the shopkeeper’s distraction, the thief swiftly took the bag, which was placed on a net, and escaped. The shopkeeper saw the woman fleeing on a motorcycle with an accomplice.

She immediately reported the theft to the Warje police station. Senior Police Inspector Vishwajit Kaingade and Sub-Inspector Sanjay Narle inspected the shop and initiated an investigation. Police Constable Arjun Pawar has been assigned the case and is actively searching for the suspect.
