Pune, Maharashtra (March 3, 2025): Cyber fraudsters cheated a 65-year-old woman of ₹14 lakh by pretending to repair her faulty television. The incident took place in Wanowrie between October 12, 2024, and March 1, 2025. The woman has lodged a complaint at Wanowrie police station, and a case has been registered against the unidentified fraudsters.

According to police, the elderly woman, a resident of Wanowrie, searched for the contact number of the television company after her TV stopped working. She called the number and was contacted by cyber fraudsters, who assured her that they would repair the TV. They then sent a link to her phone and gained her trust. The fraudsters convinced her to enter personal details in the link, after which they transferred ₹14 lakh from her bank account through an online transaction.
When she realized that the money had been withdrawn, she rushed to the police station and filed a complaint. Inspector Govind Jadhav is leading the investigation.
