Pune Maharashtra (April 16, 2026): A 51-year-old man from Pune has been booked after allegedly tearing pages from his passport to hide multiple visits to Bangkok from his family. The incident was detected during a routine immigration check at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

According to media reports, the passenger had returned to India via Vietnam after a holiday in Indonesia. During inspection, officials noticed that several pages were missing from his passport. Further checks revealed that the torn pages contained immigration stamps from earlier visits to Bangkok.
Tampering with a passport is a criminal offence under Indian law. Following his confession, the man was handed over to Sahar Police. According to the reports, he has been booked under Section 12 of the Passport Act, 1967, for willful damage to a passport and Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
