Pune Narcotics Raid: Police Busts Ganja Smuggling Racket, Seizes 96 Kg Worth Rs 63 Lakh
A gang involved in ganja smuggling was arrested in Pune district with 96 kg of the drug. The police conducted the operation by setting up a trap on the Pune-Nashik Road, apprehending Sanjay Pandurang Mohite (39, Kanrajgaon), Mansaram Nurji Dhanaka (40, Hurepani, Dhule), and a female accomplice.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doifode stated that the Police Commissioner has mandated a crackdown on illegal drug sales in the city and surrounding areas. Acting on a tip-off, Assistant Police Inspector Vikram Gaikwad and Police Anmaldar Nikhil Varpe intercepted two vehicles reportedly carrying ganja from Rohkal Phata. They seized the vehicles (MH 03 AM 8183 and MH 18 BR 3442) and discovered six bags of ganja upon questioning the suspects. The total haul was valued at Rs 63.31 lakh, comprising 96 kg 204 grams of ganja, three phones, two cars, and cash.
The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Santosh Patil of the Anti-Narcotics Squad, with assistance from various officers and under the supervision of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey and other senior officials. Sanjay Pandurang Mohite has a criminal record, with previous cases registered against him at Kamshet police station and Loni Kalbhor for ganja possession.
