Pune: PMP Makes Marathi Mandatory for All Administrative Work and Official Communication

The PMP administration has instructed that Marathi language should be used in all administrative work in all departments of the Pune Metropolitan Transport Corporation (PMP). After Marathi language was given the status of a noble language, an order issued by the Marathi Language Department of the state government instructed to use Marathi language in all administrative work. Accordingly, this order has been issued by the PMP administration.

All correspondence in PMP, office work, all samples, leaflets, licenses, note books, standard samples, forms, departmental rule books, all kinds of notes, remarks, opinions, orders, notifications, draft rules, office circulars, agreements, reports, minutes of meetings, etc. must be done in Marathi.

The name of a person, officer, employee on the nameplate in the office must be in Marathi. Especially, while writing these names in Marathi, they should be written in Marathi without translating the English initials. Also, the order states that all tenders in the office, contracts with contractors/contracts with different companies and establishments should be done in Marathi as per the Official Language Act, 1964.
