Pune Rape and Murder Case: “Hang the Monster,” Demand Rajgurunagar Locals; Stage Candle March
The rape and callous murder of a juvenile girl from Manjrewadi in Khed taluka, has been condemned at all levels. The residents of Manjrewadi staged a candle march to ensure that the culprit was sentenced to death by the fast-track court. Accused Navnath Kailas Manjre (29) raped a minor seventeen-year-old girl in a car and drove her to the farm. She was also brutally murdered. He smashed her with a stone. The body was thrown into the Bhima River to get rid of any evidence. This incident is being denounced at every level. In protest of this tragedy, the locals held a candle march from the victims' memorial place in Rajgurunagar city to the Tehsildar Kacheri. On behalf of the family and the villagers, a representation was made to Divisional Police Officer Amol Mandve to have the accused sentenced to death in a fast-track court.
On behalf of this working police administration, it was required that measures be made to ensure that the murderer be executed properly and judicially, with no flaws in the investigation. Chairman of the market committee, Vijaysinh Shinde Patil Vijay Dolas, former Zilla Parishad member Rohini Rakshe, Vijayatai Shinde, Ashwini Pacharane, and Vandana Satpute were among the ladies from various city organisations who attended the event. Women and Panchkroshi residents were in considerable numbers. The accused murderer confessed to the crime when the cops grilled him as a suspect.

However, due to the fact that the police were being misled regarding the torture, after receiving the medical report, the village women became aggressive as it came to light that they had been raped and murdered.
