Pune Rape Case: Liquor Bottles, Condoms Found in Abandoned MSRTC Buses at Swargate Depot, Raising Security Concerns (VIDEO)

The rape of a young woman at Swargate bus stand early Wednesday has raised serious concerns about security in the area. The situation worsened after liquor bottles, condom packets, clothes, blankets, bag were found in Abandoned Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses at the depot. The discovery has exposed illegal activities and shows the lack of security at one of Pune’s busiest area.

Swargate and Chhatrapati Shivajinagar bus stands cover a vast area. Many sections remain dark due to inadequate high-mast lighting, creating an unsafe environment. Criminal elements are taking advantage of these conditions. The discovery of liquor bottles and condom packets has added to concerns over the safety of women and passengers.

The number of passengers traveling at night is higher than during the day, with many women among them. The recent discovery has triggered outrage. The situation has left citizens frustrated and concerned about their safety.

Security guards are responsible for the safety of passengers and state transport property at Swargate bus stand. However, the discovery of liquor bottles and condom packets in closed Shivshahi buses has raised serious doubts about their effectiveness. Questions are now being asked about whether security personnel are actively patrolling the area or ignoring illegal activities at the depot.

The 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped inside a Shiv Shahi AC bus run by the Maharashtra State Regional Transport Corporation early on Tuesday. The accused reportedly misled the victim by telling her that her bus to Phaltan in Satara was parked near another platform. He then took her to an empty bus and assaulted her before fleeing.

Several opposition leaders have blamed the state government for rising crime and questioned Fadnavis over the incident. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vasant More led a protest at Swargate bus stand on Wednesday. Protesters vandalized the security office and accused the government of failing to ensure women’s safety.
