While the case at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital is still making headlines, another shocking incident has come to light in Dattanagar, Theur, in the Loni Kalbhor area. A frustrated mother allegedly drowned her two-month-old twins, born through test tube baby, in a water tank as they were not growing well, after which she tried to take her own life. The incident took place around 6:30 am on Tuesday. The victim's brother has filed a complaint in this regard at the Loni Kalbhor police station, and a case of murder has been registered against the 35-year-old woman.
According to the police, the woman is originally from Mirajwadi in Ashta in Sangli district and is married to a primary school teacher. After not having a child for 10 years of marriage, the couple opted for a test tube baby. After spending a lot of money, they had twins two months ago. The woman was currently living in Dattanagar in her mother's home. However, the babies were not growing well. Her health had also deteriorated due to childbirth. She was mentally disturbed due to financial expenses and increased stress.
Due to this stress, on Tuesday morning, she took both the babies to the roof of the house and drowned them in the water of the tank, killing them. Then she tried to kill herself by jumping into it. As soon as the neighbors noticed this incident, they informed the police. The police rushed to the spot and saved the woman, but by then both the babies had died. Police Sub-Inspector Ratnadeep Birajdar is conducting further investigation into the case.
