Pune is still experiencing a high rate of residential burglaries. The latest incident included robbers breaking into three flats in the same building at Saidutt Niwas, Telco Colony in Ambegaon Budruk. The robbers stole 11 tonnes of gold ornaments and cash. Similar instances were reported in Vishrantwadi and Baner. The Ambegaon burglary was discovered on April 9. A resident filed a police report upon arriving home on April 9. On the night of April 8, his family locked their flat and left. When they returned, they discovered the door smashed and the house looted. Rs 65,000 in cash and Rs 1.61 lakh in gold were reported missing.
Two further apartments in the same building were also robbed. One of the flat's owners is now abroad. The incident was discovered when neighbours spotted the door open. CCTV footage shows four criminals entering the property from behind the society's clubhouse. While breaking into their target homes, the robbers locked other flats from the outside. The robbers carried slippers in their hands to mask their footsteps. Everyone wore masks, handkerchiefs, and gloves.

Police suspect the gang conducted reconnaissance before the break-in. Saidutt Niwas contains three buildings: one with 1BHK flats that is fully inhabited, and the other two with 2BHK flats, some of which are locked.
In a separate incident, burglars stole Rs 8,000 and silver from a senior citizen's home in Samarth Colony, Baner. The man had returned to his home village for religious work. Meanwhile, Rs 57,000 worth of valuables were stolen from a residence in Vishrantwadi. Police have opened a case, and investigations are ongoing.
