In a bizarre bid to go viral on social media, a young man in Bengaluru took the phrase “tea break” a little too literally. A video that's now making rounds online shows the man casually sipping tea while sitting on a wheeled chair—right in the middle of Magadi Road, as traffic whizzes dangerously around him. Clad in a blue shirt and shorts, the daredevil appears unfazed by the fast-moving trucks and bikes passing by, striking a pose as if the road were his stage.
However, the internet fame he chased was short-lived. The moment the video gained traction online, Bengaluru police sprang into action and swiftly arrested the man. They later shared the footage on their official Twitter handle with a witty warning: “Taking tea time to the traffic line will brew you a hefty fine, not fame !!! BEWARE BCP is watching you.”
Authorities confirmed that a case has been filed under the Motor Vehicles Act and other applicable laws. The man has been fined, and further legal proceedings are underway. “This kind of stunt is not only reckless, it’s a blatant violation of traffic laws,” said a police official. “Roads are not stages for social media stunts. Such acts won’t be tolerated,” he added.
Officials also noted that this isn't the first instance of attention-seekers risking public safety in Bengaluru for online fame. In response, police have urged citizens to act responsibly, follow traffic rules, and keep their social media ambitions off the streets.
