India likely to ban few more Chinese origin apps after TikTok, Shein, and UC Browser

The government has decided to ban few more Chinese origin apps, days after a similar action was taken against 59 Chinese apps for being 'prejudicial to sovereignty, integrity and security of the country'. The Chinese origin apps have already been taken down by Google Play  Store and Apple's App Store according to a report in Hinduatan Times. The  lighter versions of the banned apps were reportedly found to be operating despite the ban by the government but now they have been removed from the application stores. 

The government had warned of serious consequences if citizens do not comply with the government order. The Ministry had reportedly written to all the companies concerned and said that making the apps available, directly or indirectly, would violate IT Act and other laws. According to the IT ministry, the move would safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile users. The government  in the backdrop of a India-China standoff in Galwan Valley, in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed had decided to ban all Chines application in India. The decision was welcomed by some of the biggest names from the entertainment, sports and business industry.
