UPI Down: Major Outage Disrupts Digital Payments Across India

Users across India reported a major outage in Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services on Wednesday. Many faced difficulties completing transactions as popular payment platforms and banking apps stopped functioning. The disruption affected both individuals and businesses relying on digital payments. The cause of the outage remains unclear.

Many took to X, formerly Twitter, to share screenshots of their UPI payment failures.

Downdetector showed a sharp increase in complaints. By 7:50 p.m., 2,750 complaints had been recorded. Google Pay users filed 296 complaints, while Paytm saw 119 reports of issues. The State Bank of India (SBI) was also impacted, with 376 users reporting problems. Most SBI complaints were related to fund transfers and online banking disruptions.
