Shirgaon & Khoni to Get Schools, Hospitals Under MHADA Development Plan
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Konkan Board has offered land parcels in Shirgaon and Khoni (Kalyan Taluka, Thane District) for the development of schools and multi-specialty hospitals. These plots are part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) housing projects, aimed at providing affordable housing along with essential infrastructure.
The land will be sold through a tender process, open to individuals, institutions, educational organizations, healthcare providers, public charitable trusts, developers, and joint ventures. Applications must be submitted by March 18, 2025.
The Shirgaon housing project, located in Kalyan Taluka, Thane, is designed as a self-sustaining township. It includes 7,141 apartments for the economically weaker sections (EWS) under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and 528 apartments for the low-income group (LIG) under the MHADA scheme. So far, 1,905 units have received occupancy certificates, while construction is ongoing for the remaining apartments. An additional 11,023 LIG units have been approved. The project features dedicated plots for hospitals, schools, playgrounds, a clubhouse, a gym, shops, and gardens. With its location along the proposed Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, it offers excellent connectivity.
In Khoni, MHADA has completed 5,060 EWS apartments, with 4,048 units ready for possession and 2,114 LIG apartments under construction. A 2,464.60 sq. meter plot has been allocated for a school. Chief Officer Revati Gaikar highlights MHADA’s commitment to providing quality housing, healthcare, and education.
