Residents of New Vadavali in Badlapur have raised serious concerns about blasting activities allegedly taking place near the new waste management project site. According to local accounts, the blasting has reportedly caused cracks in homes across New Vadavali, New Ambernath, and Sai village. Concerned residents state they will protest against the waste project if the blasting activities aren't halted immediately.
The waste management facility under construction in New Vadavali within Badlapur municipal limits is designed to process waste from Badlapur, Ambernath, and Ulhasnagar. Residents claim that mountain excavation work for this project involves blasting operations using six-inch boreholes, allegedly occurring both day and night.
According to concerned citizens from the three affected villages, the alleged blasting has not only damaged their homes but also disrupts sleep, particularly for children who reportedly wake up startled at night. Students claim they cannot concentrate on studies, and some residents report developing respiratory problems from dust allegedly generated by the activities. The situation has reportedly created an atmosphere of anxiety in these communities.
"It feels like an earthquake because of this," claimed Vijay Bhoir, a local resident. "The administration doesn't seem concerned. Big players are doing this for financial gains. We will stop this project and protest against this."
A local woman reportedly stated, "We have written letters to the Tahsildar. They don't have permission for blasting; this is illegal."
