Four masked men armed with guns attempted to rob a jewelry shop in the Balkum Naka of Thane district Wednesday morning but were thwarted by the shop owner. The owner, who was alone in the store, fought off the robbers with a wooden stick, forcing them to flee. The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. The attempted robbery was captured on surveillance video.

Thane police swiftly reached the scene and apprehended one of the accused. The remaining three managed to escape. The arrested accused is being interrogated and police are using this information to track down the other three. According to police, the accused have a criminal history and are suspected of being involved in other criminal activities.
