Aurangabad, July 22:The sale of sanitiser has been decreased owing to a drop in its usage in the city. The citizens, who were quite keen about health safety and usage of sanitisers before doing any sort of work, seems to have now forgotten its usage. The sale of sanitiser was 1.5 lakh litres quantity per month during the pandemic situation, but after unlocking of the pandemic situation, the sale has dropped at 10,000 litres per month. It is observed that the sanitiser bottles have either become decorative pieces in the offices or lying in one corner of the houses.It may be noted that the health personnel continues to alert citizens reminding that the danger due to Covid-19 continues to lurk, therefore, they stressed on the usage of face mask and sanitisers.The office-bearers of the Chemists and Druggist Association said," The sale of sanitiser was 1.5 lakh litres per month during the last year. The sale reduced after the first wave of the Covid-19 situation came under control. The sale again scaled up during the second wave (February 2021). In the meantime, the Covid-19 vaccine was made available in the health centres from January. Hence the citizens got relaxed. The restrictions relating to the Covid-19 are still in effect, but the people are moving around without any fear and hesitation, in the city. The arrival of vaccines led to a decline in the sale of sanitiser, which was 10,000 litres in June. The figure would be the same in July.Decorative piece in shops, officeIt has been observed that the sanitiser bottles have become decorative pieces in government offices, hotels and shops. One can found sanitiser bottles mounted on a stand, but the majority of them do not use it. One bottle of sanitiser empties in 15-20 days, these days. Earlier, it used to empties in 2-3 days, pointed out health personnel.Slash in pricesIn the last year, the price of one can of 5 litres' sanitiser was Rs 1,000. Today the same quantity is available between Rs 350 and Rs 500. The rates have been dropped, but usage of sanitiser has not been increased, it is learnt.
