A three-member inquiry commission has been set up by the Supreme Court to probe into the rape of the female doctor in Telangana and the police encounter of those accused of burning her to death. It will be headed by former Supreme Court Judge VS Sirpurkar. The Supreme Court also directed that no other court or authority can investigate this matter till further order of the court. The court said during the hearing that it clearly felt that a committee should be formed to conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter. The Supreme Court said that the investigation should be completed in 6 months. Earlier, during the hearing in the case, the Supreme Court said that there should be a fair inquiry into the encounter of four accused. A bench headed by Chief Justice S. A Bobde said this during the hearing on two PILs. The petitions demanded an independent inquiry into the killing of the accused in the encounter last week. The bench said, "We believe that there should be an impartial inquiry into the killing of four accused in the gang rape and murder case of the young vet in Telangana".Justice S.A Nazir and Justice Sanjeev Khanna were also part of the bench. He said that there are many aspects to Telangana government story which needs to be investigated. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the Telangana government, said that no police personnel were shot but they got injured in the attack by the accused.During the hearing of the case, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the police in the Telangana encounter case, said, "In the past also the court has appointed a retired Supreme Judge, but a judge cannot conduct an inquiry to oversee the investigation." At the same time, Chief Justice SA Bobde said, we do not want to imagine the truth. Let there be an inquiry. Why are you against it? We are not saying that you are guilty. We will order an inquiry, you too can take part in it. 'To this Mukul Rohatgi said that the High Court and the NHRC are already investigating the case. On this, the Supreme Court has clarified the investigation and this investigation should be completed in 6 months.
