Aurangabad, March 30:A COVID patient who had gone to replay a nature’s call fell in the toilet and died at ICU of District Civil Hospital (DCH) on Monday morning while undergoing treatment.According to details, a 65-year-old patient Gulrabrao Dhavle (Jaibhavaninagar) was admitted to District Civil Hospital (DCH) on March 27 for pandemic virus treatment.The oxygen level of his body was going down after he was admitted to DCH.Meanwhile, he went to the toilet in the morning of Monday and did not return for a long time.Other patients and hospital staff realised this and knocked on the door of the toilet.When the DCH employees did not get any response from Gulabrao, they broke its door and shifted the patient to ICU. Gulabrao Dhavle died at 7.40 am while undergoing treatment.Nilesh Dhavle, son of the deceased, claimed that other patients informed him that his father had gone to the toilet at 2 am and did not return until 6 am.“I went to the hospital in the morning and then, the door of the toilet was broken and shifted Gulabrao to ICU. But, he died. The DCH staff did not take care of my father, who died because of their negligence,” he said.He demanded that a case of culpable homicide should be registered against those who are responsible for the negligence.District Civil Surgeon Dr Sundar Kulkarni said that the said COVID patients went to the toilet at 5.30 am and did not return till 6 am.“When our staff members realised this, they broke the door of the toiled and took him out.In fact, with the support of employees, Gulabrao returned to bed on foot. He was given treatment immediately at ICU. When his condition deteriorated, he was put on a ventilator. However, he died.
