Aurangabad, March 27:In the wake of a fire accident in a hospital at Bhandup-Mumbai, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has installed fire extinguishers in its six Covid Care Centres, where the admission of patients are in large number. The AMC's fire brigade section also imparted training to health personnel in the fire system's operation during an emergency. Meanwhile, the fire brigade section, during the inspection of CCCs, in rural parts of the district, found the absence of fire extinguishers. Hence the AMC sent a letter alerting Public Works Department to arrange the same for patients' safety.The fire extinguisher (one each) was provided to the CCC at Kile Ark, Meltron, CIPET, Padampura, Sant Tukaram Hostel and Deogiri College Boys Hostel. There are hundreds of Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment at Kile Ark and Meltron-Chikalthana. Hence the health personnel at these CCCs were imparted training on how to use the fire extinguishers. This is a temporary arrangement made by the AMC. The fire fighting systems will also be installed in all the remaining CCCs soon for the patients' safety.The chief fire brigade officer R K Sure said, " The fire extinguishers were provided to the six CCCs on Friday after the heinous incident of fire in Mumbai's hospital. The fire audit in rural parts of the district is also underway. We are also focussing on fire audit of private hospitals in the city. The efforts are underway to install fire extinguishers in terms of patients security. The expiry date of the fire extinguishers is of a very short period. Hence the old fire extinguishers' date will also be checked and replaced."
