Three of the patients have been shifted to a hospital in Mumbai. The majority of these patients are being treated in private hospitals.The highest number of 40 patients have been found in the Thane municipal limit. It is followed by Navi Mumbai with 34, Kalyan with 29, Ulhasnagar with 3, Bhiwandi with 1, Mirabhayender with 8, Ambernath with 1 and Badlapur with 1. Fortunately, no cases of the disease have been reported in rural areas of the district so far.On an average, around 11 new patients are being diagnosed with the disease in the district on a daily basis. Of these, 1 died in Thane, 5 in Navi Mumbai, 3 in Kalyan and one in Ulhasnagar.If the patient is undergoing treatment at a government hospital for this disease, they are being treated free of cost. The District Government Hospital, Thane has informed that there is sufficient stock of medicines required to treat the disease. A team of 7 doctors, anesthesiologists, ear, nose and throat specialists have been deployed at the district government hospital to treat such patients. Also four to five dentists have been made available. A team of expert doctors will also be recruited from outside and a neurosurgeon will also be made available.
