Aurangabad, May 12:It has come to notice that the Covid-19 after their recovery is found to be suffering from mucormycosis (rare fungal infection) disease. Some patients had even undergone surgical operations in this regard. Sensing the seriousness of the fungal ailment, the health section has alerted all the doctors in the city to send details of patients (with name) who were suffering from fungal infection diseases during the past year, said the medical officer of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dr. Megha Jogdand.A total of 83,000 Covid-19 patients were detected from the jurisdiction of the city. However, it had come to notice that many of them after getting discharged from the hospitals were found to be suffering from mucormycosis disease. A few days ago, the acting municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr. Neeta Padalkar had held a meeting with all the doctors in the city. They confirmed the existence of a large number of patients suffering from fungal infection in various hospitals. Accordingly, the AMC geared up to collect detailed information from all the doctors including ophthalmologists and dentists. " The report is expected to receive soon and it will help understand the severity of the fungal infection in the city," said Dr. Jogdand.Symptoms of the diseaseThe fungal infection spreads around the nose, palate, eyes, and brain. It creates breathing trouble through a fungal blockage in the nose, black fungus spots emerge on the skin and in the hard palate. The toothache, ache in cheeks, ache in jaws, irritation in eyes, swelling of eyes, poor eyesight, etc are also the symptoms of the disease.
