Lucknow, July 20 Doctors of Medanta Super-speciality Hospital have successfully attached the severed hand of a 21-year-old MBBS student, using a part of chest muscles and bone grafting.The reconstruction surgery was done 10 days back and the patient's arm has now started moving and has sensation.Consultant of Plastic Surgery, Dr Vaibhav Khanna, while briefing about the case, said: "The right hand of the patient, Saurabh, was almost completely severed from the shoulder and hanging from only one nerve. As soon as he was admitted to the hospital, a nine-hour long procedure involving multiple surgeries and bone grafting was performed in which not only the arm, but muscles and nerves were also reattached.""The anaesthesia team reconstructed all the neurovascular structures and soft tissues.
