Aurangabad, Oct 27:Customers and traders have seen throwing measures of Novel coronavirus to the wind at places like Aurangpura, Gulmandi to Paithan Gate.The State Government started implementing complete lockdown since March end to contain the spread of COVID. The shops of essential commodities and druggists and chemists were excluded from it. The Government commenced the process of lifting restrictions on various fields in a phased-manners since June through ‘Unlock process.While giving relaxations, the Government clearly stated that all measures including wearing marks, physical distancing, using sanitiser’ should be implemented compulsorily by all customers, business establishments, shops and vendors.The number of patients is declining in the city for the past several days and life has nearly returned to the normalcy in the market, but, still, there is need to exercise caution and follow measures.Except a few, most of the customers, shop owners, vendors appear not wearing marks, maintaining social distancing and using sanitiser in Aurangpura market, Gulmandi to Paithan areas.Commenting on the casual attitude of the public in the market, Ajay Shah a showroom owner from Gulmandi and former president of Zilla Vyapari Mahasangh feels that people should not take for granted to the current situation.“We don’t have an outlook of living with such things. There should be a system where basic norms and measures should be followed until the situation improves. What’s happening in our city is that if there is a change of top officers in the administration, citizens do not follow measures when a new officer takes charge. New officers should continue the implementation of measures as his predecessor had done,” he asserted.Shah said that the general public should follow at least core measures for the safety of themselves and their family members. Satish Ladwani, a shop owner from Aurangpura, thinks that all should remain alert for the safety not just oneself but others as well.“There is a mindset in our society. One cannot realise the importance of measures until one, or his/her relatives are affected by the pandemic virus. We will have to live with the existing situation and make changes in our lifestyle according to it. We should live for others just for oneself,” he said.Sameer Shaikh, a vendor from Rangar Galli, pointed out that people are moving as if there is no threat to their life and COVID is over.“Public remained indoor first time for such a long time due to lock. With relaxation in norms, they can shop and move in the market by following measures. But, this his not happening. Those who do not practise measures see a person who is wearing a mask with the different attitude,” he added.
